Pacquiao-Mosley Fight on May 7, 2011

Guaranteed prize of not less than $15 million is up again with the Filipino boxing superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao after formally signing up the contract for the May 7 bout against Sugar Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as reported in the evening newscast 24 Oras of the GMA News. It can be remembered that the fight had been announced even before the Christmas though no formal signing of the contract was made. Now it’s official but details of the contract were not made available as of this writing.

As usual, Pacquiao is also expected to get a share of the Pay Per View buys that could make his total earnings from the fight or up to $20 million (P880 million). In the part of Mosley, it was agreed before that Mosley will be assured to receive a $5 million prize excluding his share from the Pay Per View sales.

The schedule of the fight’s promotional campaign will start by February with a press tour in three cities in the United States; in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington where the Filipino icon hopes to have an audience with President Barrack Obama of the United States. Top Rank chairman Bob Arum, the one promoting the fight said that the official press conference of the fight will be in San Francisco.
